EZHAMKULAM KAVILSREE BHADRADEVI TEMPLE TRUST

Dear Sir/Madam I am the Managing President of Ezhamkulam Kavil Sree BhadraDevi temple in Ezhamkulam. The Ezhamkulam Kavil Sree Bhadra Devi temple is more than 800 years old and is well known in the area for the benevolent Devi who has helped many devotees overcome their troubles in everyday lives. The historical temple was lying neglected for a very long time, until I decided to restore the temple and build a new and magnificent abode to the powerful goddess. As devoted bhakth of Devi I spend 50 Lakhs my entire life savings and toiled years in the Gulf to raise funds for building the temple. I spend many years away from home to save money for this noble cause and sacrificed my personal life with the single aim of saving as much money to finish the temple for the Devi. I have already exhausted all my savings and even money I had kept for my daughter's marriage was used for the construction of the temple. Temples are essential for a community’s well being and it is part of our ancient culture and heritage. To protect this heritage and keep it safe for our next generation is the duty of every believer. I appeal to all devotees and philanthropists to generously donate to the temple fund as I am unable to carry out the daily pooja and other activities due to lack of resources. Unless devotees and other Hindu organisations step forward and help these small endeavours of individuals, we will end up losing all our culture and heritage and the new generation will not know about our rich past and wisdoms. To run a temple on a daily basis we need the maximum help of all believers as there are many more work to be completed like Nadapandal, Ootupura (dining hall), Office room, water supply, stage etc.and Road Concrete for Public interest.,also street light for passenger A trust was formed under the act of 1955 Tranvancore-Kochi Registration Act for Literary, Science and Charitable Societies to manage the temple and I am the Managing President of the temple. I humbly request all of you to generously donate and help me complete the project and run the temple on a daily basis as per the wishes of Devi. Yours faithfully With lots of pranamams Rajappan Managing President Ezhamkulam Kavil Sree BhadraDevi Temple Trust Registration No: PTM/TC/66/17 About The Temple The Ezhamkulam- Kavil Sree BhadraDevi temple, which is more than 800 years old, is well known in the area for the benevolent Devi who has helped many devotees overcome their troubles in everyday lives. The historical temple was lying neglected for a very long time, until one devotee decided to restore the temple and build a new and magnificent abode to the powerful goddess. Devi’s devoted bhakth Rajappan spend his entire life savings and toiled years in the Gulf to raise funds for building the temple. He spend many years away from home to save money for this noble cause and sacrificed his personal life and stayed away from all worldly pleasures with the single aim of saving as much money to finish the temple for the Devi, who had blessed him with many miracles throughout his life. Devi’s Power The temple belonged to a Brahmin family and there was no heir to look after it. Rajappan is a devotee of the Devi from childhood and believed in the extraordinary powers of the goddess or kavilamma as the Devi is popularly known in the area. One day when he was away from home, working in Gulf, his son fell sick with hepatitis and small pox. When taken to the Govt.Medical College Trivandrum. the doctors refused to admit him saying the boy is at a very advanced stage and there is not much they can do. Hearing the news Rajappan, who was not in a position to go home, felt helpless and completely devastated. The only thing he could do was pray to the goddess and completely surrender to her. He was constantly praying and promised to do anything if his son is saved. Meanwhile, after much pleading with doctors the hospital admitted the boy for treatment. The doctors told the family that the only treatment they could offer is blood transfusion and even then there is no guarantee that they could save the child. The blood transfusion was scheduled for the next day. In the morning when the doctors and hospital staff arrived for blood transfusion they were surprised to see that the small pox marks and the yellow colour on the boy’s body have miraculously disappeared. They administrated further treatment and the boy was released from the hospital all cured and healthy. According to Rajappan during this time he was given a “darshan†by the Devi and he was convinced the goddess is trying to convey something to him. When he went next to his hometown he met with well known astrologers and organised a ‘devaprasnam’ to find out what the Devi was trying to communicate. During the ‘devaprasnam’ it was discovered that the Ezhamkulam Kavu Sree Bhadradevi temple possess power of Goddess Bhadra, Rakshasas, Yogeeswaran, Naga Raja, Naga Yakshi etc. And it was deemed necessary to construct a temple for the Goddess and Upa Devas and to offer daily pooja. Rajappan took it upon himself to construct the temple and the work was started in a grand manner. As a devoted bhakth he wanted to build a grand temple, which is in proportion to the miraculous powers of the Devi. He appointed tradition temple makers and didn't cut corner at any stage. Selflessly he channeled all his savings and whatever he was earning towards the temple building. He cancelled plans to build his own house and spend 50 lakhs in 12 years to get complete the structure. During this time he spend 8 long years in the gulf without visiting his family to save money for the temple. He even used up the money he had kept aside for his daughter’s marriage. The original plan was for 4 years but it took 12 years to somewhat complete the project. There is more to be done but he has reached his financial limit and is now looking for like minded devotees to help him complete the project. Appeal I appeal all devotees and philanthropists to generously donate to the temple fund as I am unable to carry out the daily pooja and other activities due to lack of resources.
