Thrikkakara, about a half- hour ride from Kochi, is believed to have been the capital of King Mahabalis kingdom. It is home to the only temple dedicated to the Brahmin boy Vamana, one of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu, who was sent by the jealous gods to end Mahabalis reign in Kerala.
