Pandalam Mahadeva Temple
Pandalam Mahadevar temple is one of the 108 Shiva temples consecrated by the great 'Sanayasin Khara Muni'. The sacred and world-famous temple is located on the left banks of the Achenkovil river, one side of this temple is in the banks of Achankovil river so this temple also known as 'Mukkal Vattom'. The temple is unique with its natural procession route around the Sanctorum as it is the only great temple with a natural three-quarter circular path. At the eastern corner of the temple, Achankovilar flows directly into the namaskar mandapam. The temple acts as the symbol and replica of 'KAILASAM'.
The temple rituals and administration of the temple are going on smoothly under the supervision of the Mahadeva Hinduseva Samiti, which includes the representatives of all the Hindus of the 12 Karakal (12 Nearby villages). Ootupuras and related facilities are provided free of cost to the Sabarimala pilgrims to take rest and perform basic daily rituals.
