Trichennamangalam Mahadevar Temple

Peringanad Thiruvanchikulam Mahadeva Temple has an inseparable connection with the history and origin of the country and the temple. The temple is located in Peringanad village in Attur taluk. "Peringanadu" was a country that was once under the absolute rule of the Kayamkulam king. The temple is located in the central part of the region, in places like Poovankunnam, Thevarkottumala, Attockadumala, Kadakkunnamala, Kunnirangamala, and Athirumala, among other hill areas.

Legend has it that a Chenan, who was involved in the preservation of the royal road, was tasked with sharpening a weapon. When he struck a stone to sharpen it, blood started to flow. He realized that the area where he was working needed to be turned into a temple for Lord Mahadeva, who was the presiding deity of the region. Following the instructions of Poti, a neighboring resident of his birthplace, Mangalassery, he collaborated with the local community to construct the temple. The temple, which was built with the intention of providing a place of worship for the people of Mangalassery, is still revered today.

The temple is known for its history of having served as the abode of the preserver and destroyer, the protector and savior, Lord Shiva, with Nagaraja Vasam in the eastern part of Purva Rashi. The Temple was partially destroyed by Tipu's invading forces. They came from the north and set fire to the temple and other buildings in the south. The temple's valuable items were taken away, and its cows and buffaloes were slaughtered.

The temple was later rebuilt to its full glory.
