Cherupulassery Ayyapan Kavu Temple.

The Antient Temple of Ayyapan Kavu is situated at Cherupulassery which is more than 1200 Year old. The temple is also known as is also known as Malabar’s Sabarimala, Valluvanad’s Sabarimala, etc. The temple is also known as Sabarimala for Women as there are no restictions on young female for visiting the temple. It is one of the major temples in Palakkad. The idol of Swami Ayyapan is in standing position along with his beloved wife Prabha and son Sathyakan. This is the only Ayyappa Temple that faces the west.

This is one of the few temples of Lord Ayyappa where marriages can be solemnized in front of Ayyappa. A large number of pregnant women also visit this temple during the 7th month of their pregnancy. The temple has a huge pond where the Aarattu takes place. The temple is also a very important destination during Sabarimala season.
