Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple
Ettumanoor Mahadeva temple is a primeval Shiva temple in Kottayam.
According to legend, the temple was worshiped by the Pandavas and Vyasa Muni. The name of this place is derived from the word `Manoor’, that means the land of deer. The temple is one of the major Shiva temple in Kerala.
There are Dravidian mural paintings on the inside and outside walls of the main entrance. The fresco of Pradosha Nirtham (Dance of Shiva) is one of the finest wall painting in india.
The Ettumanoorappan originates from the small village Kattampak in Kottayam District.

Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple hosts the arattu festival celebrated on a grand scale on the Thiruvathira day in February-March every year. Ezharaponnana – Ezhara ponnana refers to the seven and a half golden elephants which are kept in the temple vault and taken out once in an year for darshan by the devotees
