Paramekkavu Bagavathi Temple
Paramekkavu Bagavathi Temple is one of the largest Bagavathi temples situated in the heart of Thrissur town in Kerala. It is bhagavathy temple where we hve two idol worship keezhkaavil and melkaavil bhagavathy. Poojas are conducted separately in both corners.
Here the goddess shilpam is carved in wood, hence called Daru Shilpam. It is one of the temples that participates in the Thrissur Pooram, an annual festival held in Vadakkunnathan temple. During the Pooram ceremony, a prominent attraction is the procession of fifteen caparisoned elephants from Paramekkavu to Vadakkunnathan temple.
There are two marriage halls adjacent to the temple. Spiritual talks, Kathakali etc.. are conducted at Temple Agrasala. There is a Gosala, that is run by Paramekkavu Bhagavathy Temple.
