Sri Parasurama Swamy Temple
This is an ancint temple situated on the banks of Karamana River. It is the only temple in Kerala dedicated to Lord Parasurama. This heritage structure is placed under the list of monuments of national importance.
History has it that that the temple was built during the 12th and 13th century, late Pandyan period. It is famous for Balitharpanam (a tribute to ancestors). During the karkidaka vavu day (a holiday in the Malayalam month of karkidakam) as part of the bali (a religious ritual), devotees pay homage to the departed souls of forefathers, after taking a dip in the holy water.
Another uniqueness of this temple is that it is situated at the merging of 3 rivers (Triveni Sangama), namely, Karamana River, Killi River, and Parvathiputhanar River.
There are also 3 separate sreekovils for Maha Vishnu, Lord Siva & Lord Brahma. Lord Siva has equal importance as Lord Parasurama. Hence you can find two flag Masts in the same temple.
