Eruva Sreekrishna Swamy Temple

Thank you for sharing the information about the Eruva Sree Krishna Swamy temple. It is interesting to know that the original murti worshipped in the temple was a Lakshmi Narasimha Shaligram, which was brought by a Rishi who had done intense penance in the Himalayas. The temple was one of the most important temples of the Kayamkulam kingdom, and it was believed that as long as the Shaligram was offered pujas and worship as per rules, no harm would happen to the kingdom and there would be peace and prosperity.

It is unfortunate that the Shaligram was stolen by Ramayyan Dalawa, who realized its power and took it to Thiruvarpu Madam in Kottayam to offer pujas. There is a belief that it was not the Shaligram, but a Sri Chakram that was worshipped in the temple and was stolen by Ramayyan Dalawa.

It is also interesting to know that the temple has a strict dress code for gents, which requires them to wear dhoti or trousers without any upper clothing like shirt/tops etc. This is a common practice in many temples in Kerala.
