Thattarambalam Sree Saraswathy Devi Temple
The Thattarambalam Saraswathi Temple is situated on the Mavelikara-Haripad road at Thattarambalam junction, about 3 km from Mavelikara in Alappuzha district, Kerala. Dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the temple faces east and is believed to have existed since before the 14th century CE. In fact, it is mentioned in the Unni Neeli Sandesham literary work from the 14th century CE as "Thattan Poorvam Vazhiyilazhkarnnambalam." A stone engraving found at the Kandiyoor Mahadeva Temple, located about 2 km away, mentions a Thattar Narayanan who was part of the temple committee.
According to history, the King of Odandu built this temple in his capital place specifically for the goldsmiths he brought from Tamil Nadu. Later, the administration of the temple was handed over to the Travancore Dewaswam Department when the kingdom of Odanadu merged with Travancore.
