Iringole Bhagavathy Temple

Dedicated to Goddess Durga, Iringole Kavu is a forest temple, situated in Kunnathunad Taluk of Ernakulam district. It is believed to be one of the 108 Durga Temples in Kerala that was consecrated by Lord Parasurama.

It is believed that the Goddess changes from Saraswati in the morning to Vanadurga in the afternoon and later in the evening becomes Bhadrakali. Legend says that the Goddess Bhagavathy once took the form of a baby girl and protected Lord Krishna from his evil uncle. Here believers pay their respects and ask the Goddess for her divine protection. The Iringole Kavu is spread over 50 acres and is among the most beautiful temples in the State. Locals say that the surrounding area is protected by the Gods.

The trek towards this forest temple is really an sublime experience in itself.

Festivals

The ulsavam happens from the second to the tenth of the Malayalam month of Meenam. Puna Prathishta Day and Thrikarthika are also very important celebrations in this temple.


Main Offerings

The chief offerings are Sarkara nivedyam, neypayasam and Kadumpayasam. Chathussatham, Karthika oottu, thulabharam and koottupayasam are also major offerings.


How To Reach

This temple is located in the village 'Pattal', which is about 35 kilometers from Cochin, 8 kilometres from Perumbavoor, and 20 kilometres from Kothamangalam

It is near Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, also referred as "Iringole School" by locals.
