Kattil Mekkathil Devi Temple

Kattil Mekkathil Devi Temple is a seafront Hindu temple near Shankaramangalam dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, known as Ugra Murti

The speciality of this temple is that it features a Banyan Tree when you could see small bells tied to the branches. These small bells are offerings of the Devotees to fulfil their wishes. The devotees go round the banyan tree for seven times and at the seventh they make a wish and tie the bell on the tree. The bells are never untied. Only those bells taht fall down when the strings gets rotten are collected to dispose off. Another speciality of this temple is that there are 5 water wells in the premises of this temple. Another miracle of the temple is that evev though the Temple and its wells is having close proximity to the sea, the water in these wells are not salty (fresh water).
