Sree Ayyappankavu Temple

The Ernakulam Sree Ayyappan Kavu temple is one of the most prominent Lord Ayyappan temples in Central Kerala. This famous temple is located at Ayyappankavu, hardly 1 km from Kacheripady Junction on the way to Chittoor in Ernakulam District.

The Temple was established in 1930 and renovated in 1964 by installing Panchaloham Idol of Swami Ayyappa which was contributed by Kunjan Swami Ernakulam. Sri. Vattathil Ramankutty donated 10 cents of land for the construction of the temple. Later the temple was completely renovated in 2003. In the temple Lord Ayyappa resides in the form of Sabarimala Shastavu and faces to the East side. This temple is open to all irrespective of caste and religion and is famous for its communal harmony.

The Pilgrims used to go to Sabarimala from this temple after Kettunira. Annadanam is given to the devotees on every Saturday. There is Neeranjana Pradikshanam and Navodhara Kalasabhishekam every Saturday. The temple is managed by SNDP Yogam.

Festivals

The Annual Festival is held in the Malayalam month of Dhanu. The Festival lasts for 8 days. It starts with the Thrikkodiyettam in the Malayalam Month of Dhanu and ends with Kodiyirakkam on the morning of Makaram Malayalam month. Other festivals celebrated are Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi, Navarathri, Vishu, Makaravilakku & Shivarathri.
