Sree Bhoothanatha Temple

The Chathannoor Sree Bhoothanatha Temple is a famous & Ancient Temple of Lord Aiyyappa & Lord Siva. The temple is one among the 108 Sastha temples in Kerala. It is known as Naiyarukulangara Kavu in Thottam Pattu (Ayyappan Theeyattu Pattu), which narrates the 108 Ayyappan Kavukal in Kerala.

There are two separate sreekovils in the temple. One sanctum (sreekovil) has Sree Bhoothanatha along with Shiva and Goddess Devi. The other sanctum has Shiva and the Upa Devata here is Ganapathy.

As per history, the temple was managed in ancient times by Kulangara Nair, who was the local ruler. Currently the temple is managed by local people. The temple is a big tourist attraction in Chathannoor. The Nedum Kuthira of Chathannoor Sree Bhoothanatha Temple on the festival is the one of biggest of its kind in South Kerala. Festivals in these temples also attract people from other places.

The temple with good natural view as it is situated on top of a rock. The darshanam (view) of Chathannoor Sree Bhoothanatha temple is towards east.
