Sree Chakrapani Temple

Sri Chakrapani Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavishnu. The Sankalpa of the Deity is that of Lord Vishnu releasing Gajendra from the cycle of rebirth (Moksh). According to history, Gajendra Moksha took place in this temple's pond, known as 'Thamarakkulam'.

The idol of Chakrapani is a four armed and nearly 6 feet tall. Three ponds with the names Thamarakkulam, Valiyakulam and Cheriyakulam are famous.

Legend has it that the idol in the sanctum sanctorum was worshipped by Pushkara Brahmanar a resident of Kanchipuram. The murti was retrieved by him from the nearby pond (Thamarakulam).
