Kerala Temples

Srimad Parasiva Vishwakarma Temple.

The Temple of Virat Vishwakarma is located in Puthiyakandam, Mavungal, in Ajanur Village, Kanhangad, Kasaragod District, in the state of Kerala. It is dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma, the architect of the universe, and the main deity in the temple is a five-faced Vishwakarma with five faces, ten hands, and fifteen eyes. The temple follows the Lingayat tradition.

The temple's tantric, Vedic, pooja, and rituals are performed by Vishwabrahmin priests from North Malabar and South Canara districts, who are hierarchical skilled laborers from the five communities of Manu (Blacksmith), Maya (Carpenter), Thwoshta (Metal Caster), Shilpi (Stone Mason), and Vishwanja (Goldsmith). They have been trained under the guidance of Nagalinga Guru Swami Mutt in Mysore. This is a significant feature of the Srimad Parasiva Vishwakarma temple. The Moolamanthram of the temple is transferred year to year and was handed over by Sri Sri Sidha Linga Guru Swami to his successor, Mahadeva Swamji. The pooja performed with such Thantric Vidya is the reason for the temple's greatness, purity, and popularity.

Devotees of Vishwakarma from all over India visit the temple to seek the blessings of Virat Viswakarma Deva. The temple offers Annadaanam to all devotees on the first Thursday of every month.
