Sree Urumbachan Temple

Urumpachan Temple or Urumpachan Gurusthanam is an ant -worshipping temple. There is no Sreekovil per say. However, there is a round raised Floor. There is constant worship in the temple

Local History states that a few centuries ago, a stake was driven to the ground to build a Ganapathy Temple. But the next day, an ant nest was found in the same place and the stake was found at some distance elsewhere. The Ganesh Temple was built at this new place where the stake was found and the floor was raised where the stump was first placed. Subsequently, puja to the Ants started. The raised floor is known as Urumbachan Kotam.

During the puja at the Udayamangalam temple, the first offering of every month is to the ants. After performing the pooja here, the pooja is performed at the temple. In the belief that Subrahmanya's spirit resides here, a lamp is lit every day.

The coconut brought by the devotees is broken and water is poured on the floor as an offering. This offering is made to get rid of ant nuisance from homes.
