Thaliyil Neelakandeshwar Temple

Thaliyil Neelakanteswara is also known as Nileswaram Thali. The deity is popularly known as Thaliyilappan.

As legend, the Shivling worshiped in the temple was consecrated by Sage Neela. The name of the place Neeleswaram Neeleswaram, or Nileswaram, is the abbreviated form of Neelakanta Ishwaran. A special puja known as Netra Puja is held here. The pujaris of the shrine are from the Shivalli Brahmin community.

As per local belief, initially the shrine was a Vishnu temple. The temple belongs to Nileswaram Kovilakam. Amma Thampuratti of Nileshwaram Raja family had a divine vision in her sleep and this resulted in the establishment of the temple.
