Arpookara Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple

Arpookara Sri Subramanya Swami Temple is an ancient temple of Velayudha Swamy located 500 meters west of Kottayam Medical College Bus Stand in Kottayam.

The sanctum sanctorum is circular (vatta sreekovil). The temple is noted for its magnificent wooden sculptures and mural paintings. Its also has a Koothambalam where the entire story of Ramayana is recorded with beautiful sculptures. It has an Ootupura. Peacocks can also be found in the temple.

This Temple is the only Temple in the world having Shadchakra Ganapathy Picture having daily Naivedya & Poojas. Ramayanam is sculptured in 3 dimension in Arpookara Temple Koothambalam....Mural paintings on the outside wall of the temple Sreekovil is quite famous among art lovers.
