Methiri Sree Sathrughnaswamy Temple

The temple is situated at Methiri in Ramapuram Panchayat which is 4 kms from the Sree Rama temple at Ramapuram. The temple is haven of peace and sanctity and a devotee experiences an unique sense of satisfaction after praying in this abode. The main shrine is built in hard stone and is adorned by intricate engravings. The deity here is believed to be Shatrugna’s till noon, and ‘Santana Gopalan’ afterwards. It is because of this reason that the sacred pilgrimage (nalambalam) to worship the deities of Rama, Lakshmana, Bharatha, and Shatrughna should be completed before noon (ucha pooja). A 3D depiction of the tales from Ramayana engraved on the outer walls of the main shrine is immensely attractive.

Completing darsan of all four temples in Kottayam i.e. Ramapuram Sree Rama Temple, Amanakara Sree Bharathaswami Temple, Koodappulam Sree Lakshmanaswami Temple, Sree Sathrughnaswamy Temple and finally Ramapuram Sree Rama Temple (The exact order needs to be followed) before the noon pooja is believed to be auspicious to free the devotee from ailments, woes from previous lives and provide them with good progeny.

Visiting Nalambalams in the month of Karkidakam (July-August) is considered as sacred and known as Nalambala-yathra which is becoming popular as Pilgrimage Tourism.
