Koodappulam Sree Lakshmanaswami Temple

Situated in Rampuram, Kottayam, Kerala, Sri Lakshmanaswami Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lakshmana.

The Chaturbahu (four armed) deity in the main shrine is believed to have incorporated the grace of Lord Lakshmana. There is a deity of Goddess Bhadrakali to the right side of the main shrine, and Lord Ayyappa is also worshiped here. Married couples usually offer poojas and prayers for conception. This is one of the very few temples in Kerala where a special offering called the ‘Manjal (turmeric) Para (a measuring drum) Vazhipadu’ is done for ‘Mangalya sidhi’ getting a perfect life partner(marriage) soon. ‘Annadhanam’ is arranged on all Saturdays and Sundays when there is a heavy rush of the devotees.

Completing darsan of all four temples in Kottayam i.e Ramapuram Sree Rama Temple, Amanakara Sree Bharathaswami Temple, Koodappulam Sree Lakshmanaswami Temple, Sree Sathrughnaswamy Temple and finally Ramapuram Sree Rama Temple (The exact order needs to be followed) before the noon pooja is believed to be auspicious to free the devotee from ailments, woes from previous lives and provide them with good progeny.

Visiting Nalambalams in the month of Karkidakam (July-August) is considered as sacred and known as Nalambala-yathra which is becoming popular as Pilgrimage Tourism.
