Udayanapuram Sree Subramanya Swami Temple
Udayanapuram Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple is situated approximately 2 kilometers away from Vaikom Mahadeva Temple along the Vaikom-Ernakulam State Highway.
Initially under the direct control of the Travancore Kingdom, the temple is now managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board. Vaikom Mahadeva Temple and Udayanapuram Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple share a close association, with many rituals being performed similarly in both temples. The temple has two Tantris, namely Mekkad Tantri and Bhadrakali Mattappali Tantri. It is believed that the temple was originally built in ancient times to worship Goddess Kannaki, and it was named Udayanayakipuram. Meanwhile, another temple was being constructed near Kottayam for Lord Subrahmanyan. However, Goddess Kannaki chose the Udayanayakipuram temple for herself, proclaiming it as her own and not for Kumaran (Lord Subrahmanyan). Thus, the place came to be known as Kumaranalloor, meaning "this place is not for Kumaran." Consequently, the Udayanayakipuram temple transformed into the temple dedicated to Lord Subrahmanyan and acquired the name Udayanapuram. Even today, Bhagwati Sewa, the worship of the divine mother, is performed daily in Udayanapuram temple before Deeparadhana for Kumaranalloor Bhagawati.
The famous Vaikathashtami festival marks the divine reunion of Father Vaikathappan and Son Udayanapurathappan.
